Overview
Hani Mowafi, MD, is an emergency medicine physician who provides urgent care for people with serious injuries and acute medical conditions.
As an associate professor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Mowafi is involved in research aimed at enhancing global emergency care systems. His work includes assessing the impacts of injuries and developing metrics to improve emergency care delivery. Dr. Mowafi collaborates on projects such as evaluating health data from hospitals in war-affected Syria and studying the economic impacts of road traffic injuries in rural Uganda.
Dr. Mowafi completed his medical training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and pursued residency in emergency medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University. He has been recognized for his contributions to emergency medicine with the Humanitarian Service Award from the Global Emergency Medicine Academy of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.
