Graziela Reis

Graziela Reis, MPH, BS is a Project Coordinator of Yale School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry, Program for Recovery and Community Health (PRCH) and serves as Latinx site coordinator of IMANI Breakthrough, Yale site coordinator of New England Mental Health Technology Transfer Network Center, and Co-chair of the Yale Latino Recovery Colectivo.

Graziela Reis received her Post-Master’s Degree Certificate in Trauma-informed Practice with Children and Adolescents from Springfield College, School of Social Work, and her MPH and BS as a clinical psychologist from the Pontifical Catholic University Minas Gerais, Brazil. Her expertise is related to 1) workforce development in recovery-oriented practices such as trauma-informed care and psychosocial rehabilitation interventions; 2) development of peer-coach training and technical assistance on the cultural adaptation of community practices; and 3) development of culturally appropriate curriculums and web-based training tools. In addition, Graziela trained multidisciplinary mental health and wellbeing workers, both nationally and internationally.

In Brazil, she worked as a director of primary health care in Belo Horizonte and Contagem. She developed educational training programs for primary health care workers in collaboration with the federal government, the state of Minas Gerais, and the city of Contagem and Belo Horizonte. In addition, she contributed to developing, implementing, and disseminating innovative recovery-based interventions in mental health services and multi-professional mental health residence programs in Brazil.

Graziela has been working with researchers in Brazil and Colombia to improve the healthcare system, advocating for high quality in the public mental health system. Her work is related to developing a cultural understanding of recovery, citizenship, and peer support strategies that offer better care in mental health services.

Graziela is involved in volunteer work with Latinx communities in the United States. She advocates for equity and inclusion of people facing behavioral health conditions and discrimination in Spanish and Portuguese-speaking local and global communities. Graziela is committed to working on community projects, research, and approaches to becoming more recovery-oriented and culturally responsive.
