Overview

Dario M. Zagar, MD, is a general neurologist with a special interest in headache who treats a wide range of neurologic conditions, including migraine, epilepsy, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease.

“My job combines detective work and problem-solving in order to diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain and nervous system,” Dr. Zagar says.

Dr. Zagar says he became interested in his specialty after learning about psychology and neurobiology as an undergraduate student. “After college, working with stroke patients as part of clinical research confirmed my decision to be a neurologist,” he says. As a migraine sufferer, Dr. Zagar says he appreciates being able to empathize with his headache patients.

“Though we often cannot ‘cure’ neurological disorders, recent research in the field has led to better treatments,” Dr. Zagar says. “I work with patients to find the best therapy that will help improve their quality of life.”

In his clinical research, Dr. Zagar has been involved in numerous clinical trials investigating treatments for migraines, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, as well as MS, among others.
