Clinical Care

Overview

Carmen I. Carrión, PsyD, is a clinical neuropsychologist and associate professor of neurology at Yale School of Medicine. She conducts neuropsychological evaluations in both English and Spanish, making her evaluations accessible to a broader range of patients. She treats adults referred through memory clinics as well as those with personal concerns about memory and thinking, including people being evaluated for possible neurodegenerative disorders.

A neuropsychological evaluation with Carrión typically includes a clinical interview, a series of cognitive tests, and a feedback session where results are discussed with the patient and their care team. She approaches each evaluation with care for the whole person, not just test scores, considering medical history, language background, education, and everyday life experiences alongside the results.

Her goal is to help determine whether cognitive changes are present, what factors may be contributing to a patient's concerns, and how best to move forward. She takes into account each person's strengths, circumstances, and family or social support to help patients and their care teams make informed decisions and plan a path forward.
