Overview

Alexis Loss, PA-C, is a physician assistant who provides preoperative and postoperative care for patients who are treated by doctors at Yale Medicine’s Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery.

With more than a decade of experience, Loss has cared for patients across multiple specialties, including psychiatry, surgery, weight management, and pain management. “I had always desired a career in a field where I can impact people’s lives,” Loss says. “Medicine allows me the opportunity to both educate individuals to improve their health through the use of noninvasive measures, as well as provide additional medical care when needed to help individuals reach their health goals.”

Loss became interested in bariatric surgery to treat obesity while doing clinical rotations as part of her PA program, when she noticed that it helped patients who were struggling with obesity make permanent life changes that could help them stay healthy. She believes in teaching patients how to better care for themselves so they achieves meaningful, lasting improvements in their health.

Her interests include nutrition and the relationship between obesity and mental health. “I feel so honored every day to work with patients on improving their lives,” Loss says.

Loss earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Cornell University Graduate School of Health Sciences.
