Biography

My name is Aakash Srikanth, I completed my B.S. in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan-AA, following which I earned my M.D. from Wayne State University School of Medicine and graduated Internal Medicine residency at Henry Ford Health in the heart of Detroit, MI. I have a passion for medical education as well as working with underserved communities. My academic interests include point-of-care ultrasound, procedural medicine, sarcoidosis research, and outcomes-based pulmonary medicine. I strive to advance evidence-based patient care while fostering the education and mentorship of future physicians.

Research

Overview

Henry Ford:

Currently working on a research project studying the association between clinical features/phenotypes and the microbiome
/metabolomics of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid in patients with sarcoidosis. Collaborated with the bronchoscopy
suite at Henry Ford Health to help collect BAL samples, performed data collection, and contributed to IRB protocol
development. The research team's efforts were awarded a $20,000 CHEST Foundation grant. Currently participating in the
statistical analysis and manuscript preparation, while also working on another IRB for further studies. This project has
strengthened my understanding of translational pulmonary research.
