Marney A. White, PhD, MS, professor of public health and psychiatry, has been honored by two organizations for her work in psychodermatology, in which she explores connections between the mind and skin.
The International Pemphigus & Pemphigoid Foundation (IPPF) recently honored White with its Rudy Soto Star Award, which “recognizes an individual who has gone above and beyond in service to the pemphigus and pemphigoid community.”
According to the foundation, White was honored for her “can’t grind me down spirit. She's put that same commitment into research, working with the foundation to bring attention to something that doesn't get talked about enough: the toll this disease takes on quality of life and mental health, telling patients their struggle is seen, not just their symptoms.”
White also recently received the Excellence in Advocacy Award by Clinical Specialty Infusions for her commitment and dedication to their research and advocacy. White and her students were commended for “their willingness to educate, inspire, and bring greater awareness to such an important topic.”
Both awards were presented at the 2026 IPPF Patient Education Conference in Chicago, which was held Aug. 28-30.
