Goldflam honored with ACEP national teaching award
In recognition of her outstanding dedication and innovation in teaching, Yale Emergency Medicine faculty, Dr. Katja Goldflam, was presented with the 2017 National Junior Faculty Teaching Award by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). The award was presented during the organization’s annual meeting — ACEP 17 Scientific Assembly — the largest gathering of emergency physicians in the country. Designed to support emergency medicine faculty in their efforts to achieve academic advancement, the award honors excellence and the continued academic development of the specialty, recognizing the importance of innovative educational programs, community education, and contributions to regional and global programs.
“As Associate Program Director of the Yale Emergency Medicine Residency, Dr. Goldflam is an invaluable driver of innovation,” says Dr. David Della-Giustina, Program Director of the Yale Emergency Medicine Residency. “Over the past four years she has been instrumental in revitalizing and improving our resident educational conferences and was one of the key architects spearheading the development of our Resident Wellness curriculum and our resuscitation conference.”
Dr. Goldflam is responsible for the didactic curriculum and has dedicated enormous time and effort to making didactics as valuable as possible as well as promoting the development of residents as teachers. “There isn’t a single person in the Yale EM residency that hasn’t benefited from Dr. Goldflam’s dedication, compassion, and wisdom,” says one Chief Resident. “She has made a lasting impact on all of our careers and on Emergency Medicine as a whole. We are thrilled that she has received this much deserved award.”
The award was officially presented to Dr. Goldflam at the ACEP annual meeting in Washington, D.C. on October 30th.
