INFORMATION FOR

COVID Case Maps

These maps and information dashboards provide various representations of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 regionally and throughout the globe.

Regional Case Maps

  • This dashboard shows the estimates of COVID-19 cases in CT schools, as well as the corresponding infection rates in each community.
  • This dashboard depicts the impact of COVID-19 for each town in Connecticut. The dashboard has several tools including total and nursing home-specific case totals, a time lapse view of confirmed cases throughout the state, and graphs demonstrating the recent trajectory of COVID cases per town.
  • This map displays locations of Connecticut incarceration facilities together with the counts of confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths among inmates and staff, as reported by the State of Connecticut in May - June 2020. A focus on these facilities is essential because of the easy transmission of SARS-CoV-2 among people living in close quarters and the staff that attends them.
  • This map visualizes the COVID Presence Index - the number of possible cases of COVID-19 at any given location (roughly 100 x 100 m grid) of Connecticut - by distributing the total number of confirmed cases in a town in the last 14 days using its population distribution. The increasing levels of COVID Presence Index are displayed using colors ranging from white to blue to red, while the average case density within the populated parts of the town boundaries are represented by the grey shades. Since the COVID Presence Index depicts estimates that are inferred from town-wide statistics, it does not show the exact location of individual COVID-19 cases.
  • This map displays locations of Connecticut nursing homes, together with residents’ COVID-19 cases and deaths, as reported weekly by the State of Connecticut.

United States Case Maps

  • This map visualizes the COVID Presence Index - the number of possible cases of COVID-19 at any given location (roughly 100 x 100 m grid) of the United States - by distributing the total number of confirmed cases in a county in the last 14 days using its population distribution. The increasing levels of COVID Presence Index are displayed using colors ranging from white to blue to red, while the average case density within the populated parts of the county boundaries are represented by the grey shades. Since the COVID Presence Index depicts estimates that are inferred from county-wide statistics, it does not show the exact location of individual COVID-19 cases.
  • This map illustrates the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases per 10,000 people by US county. US counties appearing on the map with no color (dark gray) have no known cases of COVID-19. Please see the legend next to the map for more details.

Global Case Maps

  • This dashboard lists current total numbers of reported cases, recoveries, and deaths associated with COVID-19 by country and around the globe. It also graphs the global accumulation of both cases and deaths over time. The map display uses dots of varied sizes at the centers of geographical areas to depict the number of cumulative cases currently reported within each area (country, province, state, or county – whichever is the finest area for which data could be acquired). Statistics for each area can also be presented by clicking on its dot.
  • This map depicts the spatial spread of total confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 1/22/2020. The surfaces are created using kernel density estimates of the country-specific values ascribed to the centroids of those countries. Note that this is map is for visualization purposes only. To get exact values of the country-specific (and country/province-specific data where available), please check our COVID-19 map here.
