EPIC follow up functionality

Short video of how to use some of the follow up functionality in Epic.

  • 00:00Hello, this is going to be a short video
  • 00:03just to show about the follow up section
  • 00:07and some recommendations for Epic.
  • 00:10You know, as we've gotten on Tele
  • 00:13Health, I think a lot of people are
  • 00:15using the follow-up
  • 00:16functions more extensively.
  • 00:17But also, we really want to encourage
  • 00:19people during clinic to be doing this.
  • 00:21So if you could have come to the
  • 00:23wrap up section under follow up,
  • 00:25you'll have the different
  • 00:27time frames for follow up.
  • 00:28You can certainly change those speed
  • 00:30buttons if you simply click on the wrench.
  • 00:32You can type in if there are different time
  • 00:36frames that you prefer for your patient.
  • 00:39There's also these text follow-ups that
  • 00:41you can wrench in whatever you'd like.
  • 00:45For example, I think it's really
  • 00:47helpful if you can put a face to face
  • 00:49follow-up versus a Tele health follow up.
  • 00:51It helps get the appropriate patients
  • 00:53to the right kind of visits,
  • 00:55and lets the desk the front desk know
  • 00:57what it is that you're hoping for,
  • 00:59and if there are other things
  • 01:01that you use regularly,
  • 01:02you can put these in.
  • 01:03So there are simple click boxes to add.
  • 01:06With that said,
  • 01:07I wanted to point out what I found
  • 01:09now to be probably the most helpful
  • 01:11is the checkout Note section.
  • 01:12You can see here.
  • 01:14This is just a free text way.
  • 01:16To give the recommendations to the front
  • 01:18desk of what you'd like to see set up,
  • 01:21I like to put my notes there.
  • 01:23Helps give kind of clarity of
  • 01:24what it is a patient comes to the
  • 01:26front desk either virtually or in
  • 01:28clinic of what you're looking for.
  • 01:30I often relax, take, you know,
  • 01:32set up things,
  • 01:33might say kind of a time frame or
  • 01:35or what it is we're looking for.
  • 01:37I'll explain what I want for the
  • 01:39follow up and it really can be
  • 01:41a direct communication so that
  • 01:43somebody looking at the front
  • 01:45desk can kind of know exactly what
  • 01:47it is you're thinking about.
  • 01:48So just some suggestions on ways to
  • 01:51really make use of the functionality.
  • 01:54To me this check out note is
  • 01:57become very helpful in the process.
