Biography

Dr. Vivek Dhungana is a professional, compassionate, and academically driven physician with expertise in internal medicine, preventive medicine, and public health. An avid advocate for patient health, he currently serves as Program Director of the Yale University School of Medicine–affiliated combined Internal Medicine–Preventive Medicine–MPH residency program and Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine at Griffin Hospital, where he also completed his own training. In these roles, he oversees and advances graduate medical education, shaping the next generation of physicians.

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, Dr. Dhungana practices as a teaching hospitalist at Griffin Hospital, blending clinical care with medical education. He also holds academic appointments as Clinical Instructor at Yale School of Medicine and Assistant Clinical Professor at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.

His professional interests include population health, healthcare access, global health, medical education, research methodology, and person-centered care. Dr. Dhungana has been recognized for his contributions to medicine and education with honors such as the Dr. Baker Humanism Award and the Chairman’s Award for excellence in Preventive Medicine.
