Biography

Trygve Dolber, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine, where his clinical work focuses on ambulatory psychiatric care for individuals with HIV and sickle cell disease. From 2020 to 2025, he practiced at University Hospitals in Cleveland, serving as medical director and co-developer of a relationship-centered, personalized care program designed for patients with advanced chronic medical illness whose conditions continued to worsen despite access to effective treatment. His ongoing research examines the behavioral, relational, and systems-level mechanisms through which this model influences engagement, clinical outcomes, and care trajectories; this work was supported by a pilot award from the University Hospitals Psychiatry Research Collaborative. Dr. Dolber completed dual training in psychiatry and internal medicine at Emory University and leverages that background to study and implement behavioral and relational approaches to complex chronic disease management across health care settings.
