Biography

Dr. Yu obtained her medical degree from Medical College of Southeast University in China and her Ph.D. in Immunology and Infectious Disease from Pennsylvania State University. She did her postdoc training at Dr. Gordon Freeman’s lab in Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School, where she investigated the role of immunotherapy using PD-1 and PD-L1 in animal tumor models. She started her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Mount Sinai Hospital at Icahn Medical School and finished the rest of her residency at Tufts Medical Center/Tufts University. After completing her residency, Dr. Yu pursued a two-year fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In her first year, she undertook a general surgical pathology fellowship with a specific focus on genitourinary and soft tissue pathology. Following this, she dedicated another year to a Cytopathology Fellowship. She joined the Yale Pathology Staff in Aug 2023. Dr. Yu loves all aspects of general surgical pathology and cytopathology, but has research interests particularly in cytopathology and head and neck pathology. She has published 20 peer-reviewed publications.
