Biography

Maryam is an Internal Medicine Resident Physician at Yale New Haven Hospital. She obtained her MD from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, followed by her Master’s in eHealth from McMaster University. Subsequently, she started her research on regulatory science and health policy as a Postdoctoral Associate at Yale/YNHH Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE). Her research aims to improve healthcare outcomes by informing and strengthening regulatory and coverage policies, particularly in oncology. She studies pre-market and post-market evidence along with safety actions for U.S. FDA-approved drugs and devices, with particular focus on those approved via expedited pathways. Her work also explores how coverage programs are used to balance early access to innovation with the need for robust post-market evidence. She ultimately aims to pursue a career in academia as an oncologist, leading efforts to optimize the approval and coverage processes to ensure timely and equitable access to safe and effective therapies with the goal of advancing patient outcomes.
