Biography
Marissa Acciardo is an emerging clinical mental health professional committed to advancing compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals navigating complex behavioral health challenges. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Sacred Heart University and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Albertus Magnus College.
Marissa has developed extensive experience working with individuals facing dual diagnosis challenges, including co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Her background in behavioral health has equipped her with a compassionate, client-centered approach rooted in evidence-based practices.
As a Health Promotion Advocate with Project ASSERT at Yale New Haven Hospital, serving both hospital campuses, Marissa works directly within the Emergency Department to support patients navigating substance use and recovery. In this role, she provides education on the physical risks of substance use while also presenting accessible, individualized treatment options. She is committed to meeting patients where they are, collaboratively developing recovery-focused plans, and creating a safe, supportive environment that fosters advocacy, empowerment, and long-term wellness.
Marissa is deeply grateful to be part of an organization that promotes healthy living, meaningful community impact, and a motivational environment that inspires both professional growth and transformative change in the lives of those it serves.
