Biography
Jessica Pipitone Stanek is a Certified Nurse-Midwife with a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Spanish from Ithaca College.
She began her career in Women’s Healthcare as a medical assistant at Planned Parenthood Federation of America and as an HIV/AIDS counselor in Western New York. She then moved toin Central America involved in social justice organizing and education for a global non-for-profit organization. It was there she realized her obligation as a global citizen to advocate for equal access to dignified healthcare for women and families everywhere.
She became a Certified Nurse-Midwife in 2006 and has worked in private practice and at an accredited birth center before joining Yale Medicine. Her past research interests include the birth experience of childbearing people in Nicaragua. Her academic and clinical focus is on reducing health disparities and improving maternal morbidity and mortality.
She is a Full-time Lecturer and Clinical Faculty at the Yale University School of Nursing, a Clinical Instructor for Yale University School of Medicine, and a Certified Lactation Counselor. Her current role as a Yale Midwife and Professor allows her the opportunity to practice full-scope midwifery, shape the future midwives of the world, and raise her three vibrant children in Connecticut.
