Biography
Mr. Rhodes completed a B.S degree in Neural Science at New York University in May 2025 with minors in Woodwind Studies and Chemistry. While there, he dedicated his efforts towards basic, translational, and clinical research in Psychiatry and Neurology. Under the direction of Dr. Dayu Lin, Ph.D at NYU Langone he studied hypothalamic neuroplasticity and the neural circuit dynamics of alloparental and prosocial behavior in male mice. From there, he transitioned into studying early-stage Alzheimer's Disease (AD) under Dr. Arjun V. Masurkar, M.D, Ph.D. He studied how intrahippocampal and hippocampal-entorhinal circuitry support spatial working memory and how it goes awry in AD. Concurrently, he volunteered at the NYU Langone Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), where he assisted day-to-day operations of a longitudinal clinical research study exploring long-term outcomes and biomarkers of early-stage AD. He joined the Yale Depression Research Program in June 2025, where he coordinates a clinical trial investigating the clinical effectiveness of IV Ketamine and Intranasal Esketamine for treatment resistant Major Depressive Disorder under Samuel Wilkinson, M.D and Gerard Sanacora, M.D Ph.D. So far, he has contributed to understanding how unremitted depression moderates clinical outcomes in ECT. He also collaborates with Dr. Sarah Fineberg, M.D Ph.D to investigate non-suicidal self injury (NSSI) in Borderline Personality Disorder. Ultimately, Mr. Rhodes seeks to pursue an M.D, Ph.D degree where he would investigate prefrontal circuits and brain networks of affective lability and cognitive control in MDD, Bipolar, Borderline and Antisocial Personality Disorder. He seeks to develop personalized pharmacotherapies and/or targeted neuromodulation interventions to support patients with these disorders.
