Biography
Dr. Martinez is a first-year Infectious Diseases fellow at Yale School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Loma Linda University and earned both his medical degree and a Master of Science in Medical Sciences from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. During his master’s training, he conducted research in a BSL-3 laboratory on Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Erdman strain), investigating synergistic therapies to enhance eradication alongside standard RIPE treatment.

His interest in global health began during a six-month study abroad program in Botswana, where he studied at the University of Botswana and observed care in both rural and urban clinics. He has since participated in medical work across five African countries and is particularly interested in strengthening infectious disease care and bridging gaps in medical education throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
He holds an AAHIVS credential through the American Academy of HIV Medicine, reflecting his commitment to excellence in HIV care. He is currently pursuing certification in tropical medicine through the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and is dedicated to a career in academic medicine focused on advancing equitable healthcare globally, particularly in resource-limited settings.
