Vacation To Do List

1 Minute Read

Hi everyone,

Greetings from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Gabrielle and I arrived Thursday evening after flying overnight to Milan and driving six hours across Northern Italy. Francesca and Heide arrived the day before, via Ireland, Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro.

We’re renting an apartment in the old part of the city, beneath a castle and steps from the river, cafes, restaurants, and gelato shops. On Friday, we ate lunch and dinner at the farmer’s market and took a walking tour. Yesterday, we hiked through Plitvice Lakes National Park, followed by dinner in Istria.

My vacation to do list is full. I have books to read (currently a poetry collection, “Devotion,” by Mary Oliver; “The Sunflower” by Simon Wiesenthal; and “How to Read Literature Like a Professor” by Thomas C. Foster). I plan to hike and run, practice Spanish on Duolingo, write in my journal, sleep, let my mind wander, and eat wherever Heide takes us.

My To Do lists has no boxes to check. Instead, I’ll use it to focus my respite. Time will tell what I actually do this week, but my phone will be off, except to take pictures.

Take care, everyone, and be well.
