"Detecting and Managing Youth at Risk for Suicide: From Research to Feasible Real World Practice"
In this session, Lisa M. Horowitz, PhD, MPH, will address the continued increase in youth suicide rates with significant disparities across high-risk populations, along with the need for a multi-pronged public health approach to suicide prevention efforts with significant partnership opportunities for mental health and medical providers. Most young people who die by suicide are often seen by health care providers in the weeks and months prior to their deaths, indicating that medical settings can be leveraged to identify and care for those at risk. The presentation will focus on feasible and effective suicide prevention practices, as well as clinical care pathways that provide guidance and support for various medical and mental health settings.
