Slit Lamp

Every eye exam in the emergency department should include visual acuity, visual fields, and a pupil exam. It can be tempting to stop there, but the slit lamp is a unique tool that gives you magnification and a 3D view of ocular structures. The magnification and the ability for cross sectional imaging allow us to see what is going on - pun intended! Although it can be hard to find the “on” button and there seems to be covered in endless knobs, the slit lamp is easy to use!
