Healthcare Simulation

Overview

Our faculty apply cutting-edge simulation technologies to investigate safety and quality issues facing the healthcare sector as well as best practices for training and educating future generations of physicians and clinicians. We have been funded by the Department of Defense, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), as well as multiple national foundations to improve patient care using simulation.

Current Research and Projects

We will identify safety barriers to adopting COVID-19 guidelines in the emergency department, assess the impact of a simulation-based preparedness intervention on physician stress and anxiety, and test a simulation-based process improvement strategy to increase emergency department safety culture during COVID-19.
