Who can apply?
Physicians who are board-certified or board-eligible in any ABMS-recognized specialty are eligible to apply.
Visa sponsorship
Visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.
Training
Where do fellows train?
Training occurs across Yale New Haven Health and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, providing experience in two complementary health systems. Fellows also participate in activities throughout Yale’s biomedical informatics ecosystem, including BIDS, YBIC, and the ACCELERATE Clinical Informatics & Digital Innovation Laboratory.
Can I combine the fellowship with another subspecialty?
In exceptional circumstances, individualized training pathways may be considered. We encourage interested applicants to reach out at a minimum of one application cycle in advance.
Is remote participation available?
The fellowship is designed as an in-person, immersive training experience. Limited remote participation may be available depending on project activities and operational responsibilities.
Research & Education
What research opportunities are available?
Fellows participate in active projects spanning clinical AI, clinical decision support, digital health, learning health systems, implementation science, pragmatic clinical trials, and real-world evidence. Projects are conducted through the ACCELERATE Clinical Informatics & Digital Innovation Laboratory and collaborations across Yale School of Medicine, Yale New Haven Health, the VA, and BIDS.
Is graduate coursework available?
Yes. Fellows may customize their education through graduate-level coursework offered by Computational Biology & Biomedical Informatics (CB&B), the Health Informatics, and the optional Master of Health Sciences track in Clinical Informatics & Data Science
How does the fellowship prepare fellows for board certification?
The curriculum aligns with ACGME Clinical Informatics Milestones and ABPM board certification requirements through immersive operational experiences, longitudinal mentorship, formal didactics, and individualized learning plans.
