A new quarterly leadership-focused lecture series will be launched at the Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) this October. Coordinated by YCSC Assistant Professor Daryn H. David, PhD in collaboration with YCSC Chair Linda Mayes, MD and the center’s Grand Rounds committee, the series is titled Exploring and Enhancing Leadership in the Academy.
A special opening session will be held via Zoom on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. The inaugural speaker will be Pamela Sutton-Wallace, MPH, who serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Yale-New Haven Health System.
Two additional speakers have been confirmed for this academic year, with Gaylord Specialty Healthcare President and CEO Sonja LaBarbera, SLP leading Grand Rounds on February 27, 2023 and Associate Professor of Psychiatry Nii Addy, PhD on April 23, 2023. Each of these hybrid sessions will be held during the YCSC’s usual Grand Rounds on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
The new series will provide an open forum with leaders at the Yale School of Medicine and beyond who are committed to principles of collaboration and service. These talks will be further promoted throughout the YCSC, at 230 South Frontage Road and 350 George Street, through leadership-themed posters designed by Skyler Rapacioli, an undergraduate graphic design student.

Specifically, blog posts call attention to the importance of connecting with others and adopting a service mindset within academic medicine.
