Research Overview

The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence research agenda covers three main areas:

  1. The basic science of emotions, emotional intelligence, and emotion skill development
  2. Evaluations of social and emotional interventions, programming, and practices, including RULER
  3. Methodological advancements in the measurement of social emotional constructs including emotional intelligence skills, well-being, and school climate.

In service of our Center’s mission to create a healthier, more equitable, innovative, and compassionate society for now and future generations, our research yields scientific knowledge and actionable outcomes that benefit the children, educators, staff, and families whom we serve.
