Graduate and Postgraduate Professional Training
We support several longstanding graduate and postgraduate training programs in psychology and social work. For more than 30 years, we have offered predoctoral training in clinical and community psychology to psychology fellows. The training program is approved by the American Psychological Association through the Yale University Department of Psychiatry. During this period, we also have provided postdoctoral training in research or service to trainees with backgrounds in clinical, community, and counseling psychology, developmental and applied psychology, and public health, with the support of federally-funded training grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Institute of Mental Health, as well as from federal, state, and foundation funding. In addition, we serve as a graduate psychology practicum training site for area universities, such as Yale University and the University of Hartford, and an undergraduate site of psychology training for several area colleges and universities. Finally, we have a longstanding graduate internship program for social work trainees from area universities, including the University of Connecticut and Southern Connecticut State University, and serve as a practicum placement site for social work undergraduates through a number of local colleges and universities.
