Yale residents with Dr. Lulu Fundikira (Head of Radiology) and the MUHAS radiology team at the Mloganzilla campus

Currently each academic year two groups of Yale radiology residents travel to Tanzania for an ACGME-approved away elective with Yale faculty.

Electives are organized in 4-week blocks and typically timed in the months of October/November and February/March. Visiting trainees spend their time at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), and Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI) in Dar es Salaam. Ongoing projects for participating trainees to get involved include resident teaching, IT related projects including improvement and expansion of the PACS and dictation system, and establishment of subspecialty training in Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology.
