Department of Pathology Diversity, Inclusivity, Culture and Equity and Engagement (DICE) Committee Statements
The mission of the Diversity, Inclusivity, Culture, Equity, and Engagement Committee (DICE) is to work collaboratively to advocate and support diversity in our department, to encourage opportunities for all members to grow in their own understanding of diversity, and to promote equality of opportunity for all. With the support of department leadership, the Committee advises and recommends policy and practice on issues related to diversity consistent with Yale’s medical school guidelines and policies. Ultimately, the committee aims to provide the leadership necessary guidance to ensure that all people are valued and respected within the Dept. of Pathology as evidenced by equity in policies and procedures.
The vision for the DICE is to ensure a welcoming climate for all students, trainees, faculty and staff in the department. We firmly believe that we can best promote excellence by recruiting and retaining a diverse group of students, faculty and staff and by creating a climate of respect that is supportive of their personal and professional growth. This climate for diversity, inclusion and excellence is critical to attaining the best research, scholarship, teaching, health care and other strategic goals of the department. Further, we recognize that the responsibility for excellence, diversity and inclusion lies with all of us in the department: leadership, administration, faculty, staff and students.
