Biography

Dr. Anthony Enzo Seddio is an orthopaedic surgery resident at Yale New Haven Hospital. Originally from Southern California, he earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in biomechanics, graduating summa cum laude. Prior to medical school, he owned a personal training company and gym in Los Angeles, integrating his academic background with a hands-on dedication to enhancing his clients' quality of life.

While earning his MD from Loyola University Chicago, he cultivated a growing interest in orthopaedic spine surgery, focusing his research on novel strategies to improve surgical outcomes. Dr. Seddio was the first to publish on the encouraging reduction in postoperative complications associated with the GLP-1 receptor agonist semaglutide (Ozempic®) for patients undergoing posterior lumbar fusion. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed original research articles, with publications in the field's most prominent journals including The Spine Journal, Spinal Cord (Nature), Spine, European Spine Journal, and Global Spine Journal, alongside more than 100 presentations at national and international conferences.

At Yale New Haven Hospital, Dr. Seddio leads a prospective, multidisciplinary research initiative focused on optimizing the management of patients with cervical spine trauma. In collaboration with colleagues from Emergency Medicine, Trauma and Critical Care Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Neurology, the team led the development and implementation of the first Cervical Spine Management Care Signature Pathway, which now defines the standard of care across the Yale New Haven Health System.
