For the latest Q&A spotlight in a series highlighting Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) community members and their work, meet Beth Yeh, PhD. She serves as the manager of special projects for the YCSC Elevate Policy Lab.
How long have you been at Yale, and what roles have you filled in this time?
I have been part of the Yale community for the past 6 years. My journey began in late 2018 as a volunteer with the Elevate team, before the official launch of the Elevate Policy Lab. In 2020, I was hired as a MOMS Partnership® research and evaluation administrator. Then, approximately a year ago, I assumed my current role at Elevate, as manager of special projects.
What is a work-related accomplishment that made you feel proud?
For those who aren’t already familiar with our lab, the Elevate Policy Lab is the steward of the MOMS Partnership® (MOMS)—a program model designed to support the mental health needs of mothers as they pursue social and economic mobility. The lab’s work over the past 5 years or so has focused on scaling MOMS outside of New Haven (where it originated). In my current role, my work has focused on applying key learnings from the first phase of scaling MOMS to improve and refine the model and the way we work with partners. Over the past year, a colleague and I developed and implemented a new process for carrying our lab’s many improvement projects from start to finish. We have successfully increased our team’s efficiency in leveraging learnings and data (from our first phase of scaling) to drive innovations and improvements. It has been gratifying to see my team use the new process to achieve significant and positive changes in our MOMS work.
What energizes you outside of work?
I find immense joy and energy in outdoor activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, camping, and taking evening walks with my family. When I'm not exploring the outdoors, you'll likely find me immersed in a book, thanks to my participation in both my neighborhood reading group and Yale's Working Women’s Network book club. I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen by trying out new healthy recipes.
What three words would your friends use to describe you?
Caring, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
I would love to visit Isle Royale National Park.
