Chen Liu, MD, PhD, has been chosen to be the next chair of the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine and chief of Pathology at Yale New Haven Hospital, effective March 1, 2020. He comes from Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences in New Jersey.
Gift supports work on a stubborn cancer
Ginny Grunley became a patient of Roy S. Herbst, MD, PhD, after being diagnosed with a form of lung cancer associated with the EGFR gene mutation, also known as non-smoker’s lung cancer. Grunley and her husband Ken have given a million-dollar gift to support Herbst’s research.
Clinical trials take innovative approach
Since their arrivals at Yale within the past six years, Joseph Paul Eder, MD, and Patricia LoRusso, DO, have overseen a sharp increase in the number of clinical trials conducted by the Phase I Program at Yale Cancer Center. Bench investigators and the clinicians who design and conduct early-phase trials interact regularly, each sharing knowledge with the other that both strengthens the basic science and brings new discoveries to patients more quickly and effectively.

Now, on the 20th anniversary of the attending-led coverage of emergency radiology at YSM, Bokhari has recognized that the section he built and helped sustain no longer needs him to be working quite as many overnight hours.
Yale Expert Delivers Talk at White House on Role of Addiction Specialists in Hospitals
On June 25, Yale School of Medicine’s Dr. Jeanette Tetrault spoke at a convening of the President’s Opioid Commission and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the steps needed to build a national addiction medicine workforce and give Americans access to the care they need. Her talk, which focused on the role of addiction medicine specialists in emergency departments (EDs), was part of a congressional briefing sponsored by the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine.
