Biography

Dr. Hauser practices Clinical Pathology and Informatics at the Yale School of Medicine. The son of two engineering parents, he graduated sum cum laude on a full tuition scholarship from the University of Michigan's School of Biomedical Engineering. He pursued his medical doctorate at Yale University School of Medicine, where he stayed to complete his residency in Clinical Pathology. During this time, he developed a passion for informatics, a new medical subspecialty using data to improve medical decision-making. He would complete the Clinical Informatics' Practice Pathway and become board-certified. His work to integrate quantitative decision making into medicine is visible at MDCalc, where he has contributed to multiple calculators for optimizing blood transfusion. At the time of this writing, a Google search for "plasma dosage" shows his contribution as a high ranking result. He has worked in the private sector as the Chief Science Officer for Biocogniv, a Y Combinator startup. He is a founder and volunteer for the Alloantibody Exchange. His enthusiasm for working with students shows in his efforts as course instructor, thesis adviser, and mentor. His students regularly publish original peer-reviewed research, in part due to Dr. Hauser's emphasis on project management, which he has earned a P.M.P. certification. He is the VA Site Director of the Yale/VA AGCME Medical Informatics Fellowship. LinkedIn
