Overview

Daniel Kellner, MD, is a urologist who specializes in laparoscopic, robotic, and other minimally invasive techniques for treating urological disease. He is an expert in treating benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), erectile dysfunction, and vasectomy.

He was initially drawn to urology because of the diversity of patients he sees and because many of the conditions he specializes in can be treated immediately. “It’s very gratifying to be able to see that patients are improving,” he says. “One of my favorite things is when patients come to see me after surgery for BPH and they say, ‘I used to not even be able to watch a movie or drive to work without stopping to urinate. Now I can watch an entire movie. I sleep the entire night,’” he says.

As a physician, Dr. Kellner is sensitive to each patient’s needs. “Each patient is different in terms of what they feel comfortable talking about. I start by getting a sense of what’s affecting them and help them realize that what they’re experiencing is common and they’re not alone.” He also tries to explain conditions and treatments to patients in a way that is easy to understand. Dr. Kellner prioritizes patient communication and makes himself available via phone, email, and text.

In addition to treating patients, he is an assistant professor of clinical urology at Yale School of Medicine.
