Diploma Training in Injury Research

3-6 Months
Diploma training in injury research is for health professionals with a specific interest in injury and trauma research. Trainees will enroll in the NIH/FIC D43-funded Scholars in HeAlth Research Program (SHARP) 12-credit diploma at AUB.

Course of Study

There are two tracks that are available for the SHARP Diploma Program:
  • In-person, 6-week intense summer diploma at American University of Beirut.
  • Online, 2-semester diploma. MENA PAIR diploma trainees will also receive additional training in injury research.
The program provides foundations in quantitative methods and research skills. The core disciplines include epidemiology, biostatistics, research ethics, and library sciences/informatics. Formal coursework will be supplemented with workshops on injury prevention, design and management of injury surveillance systems, and research project design.

Research

All Diploma trainees will meet regularly with MENA-PAIR program faculty over 3-6 months to work on a mentored injury research project. Select trainees may apply for intramural funding to support conduct of their injury research project.

Other Support

Diploma trainees can take advantage of ongoing programs including MENA-PAIR seminars, online resources, and professional networking events.
