Biography

Keitra Thompson is an associate research scientist in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Yale School of Public Health. She primarily works with Elevate, a policy lab to elevate mental health and disrupt poverty, in the Office of Public Health Practice. In her role, Dr. Thompson collaboratively leads research, evaluation, and implementation strategies to improve the well-being of families and children disproportionately impacted by poverty, intergenerational trauma, and suboptimal mental health and social outcomes. As a dually board certified family and psychiatric nurse practitioner, Dr. Thompson also provides care to patients of all ages in community health settings. She utilizes her clinical experiences and tenets of translational science and community engagement to inform equity driven research and program implementation. Prior to joining Yale School of Public Health Dr. Thompson was a post-doctoral fellow and VA scholar in the National Clinician Scholars Program in the Department of General Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. She holds graduate degrees and certificates from Johns Hopkins Schools of Nursing and Public Health and an undergraduate degree from Emory University.
