Message from the Associate Dean for Curriculum
Dear Students,
Next week is commencement for the class of 2023. The class match results were terrific and we are so proud to have had you with us on your journey to becoming physicians. For those of you staying in Connecticut, please drop in and say hello once in a while and let us know how you are doing. Those of you leaving CT, we wish you well in your new surroundings and look forward to hearing of your successes. For the MS1s-MS5s, we hope that you have productive and rewarding summers and that you will find some time to get away, relax, and rejuvenate.
We know that the recent alerts from Yale Police Chief Anthony Campbell, including yesterday’s about gun shots outside Yale New Haven Hospital on York Street, have been very unsettling. As Friday’s email from Chief Campbell and Deputy Dean Dontes said, Yale School of Medicine is planning school-wide town halls on public safety. In addition to those (which you are very welcome to attend), we are planning a Town Hall just for MD and MD-PhD students, so that you can engage with the Yale Police Department and Yale Public Safety in a smaller forum. We know many of you not only study/perform rotations on campus at YNHH, but live nearby. We will soon follow up details about the Town Hall. See the Opportunities, Events, and Deadlines section of this Update for reminders of support resources that you can access.
A reminder, that as you browse through the Curricular Update, you can engage with those sections that are of interest without having to scroll through the other sections. To go to a particular section, click on the links below. When in a section, if you want to skip to another section or return to a section, there will be a menu of links on the side of the page when viewing in a browser or at the bottom of each section if viewing on a mobile device.
Sincerely,
Mike Schwartz, PhD
Associate Dean for Curriculum
