Academic Affairs
Welcome to the Academic Affairs portion of the Office of Academic and Professional Development at Yale School of Medicine. Our mission is to support the academic careers of our faculty from the time they join our community until they retire.
In addition to fostering career development and mentorship programs, we work together with leadership, faculty, and administrative staff to develop, interpret, and implement University and Yale School of Medicine policies and practices that govern the essential employment understandings, as summarized in the Faculty Handbook.
There are many important aspects to the Appointments & Promotions (A&P) process at Yale School of Medicine. Different faculty tracks, ranks, and positions represent varying faculty phenotypes, trajectories, and experience that come together to embody the Yale School of Medicine community. Together we advance biomedical science and health care to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Appointments, reappointments, and promotions help us define our roles and trajectories. Processes related to these begin within the candidate's department. To supplement the information provided on these web pages, we recommend that you contact your department for information about related processes, requirements, and timetables. Also, we at the OAPD are available to help.
For faculty affairs related questions, please feel free to use the ask a question form or email the office.
