YSM & the Community
Yale School of Medicine is an integral part of New Haven and surrounding communities, actively engaging to improve health outcomes and address social determinants of health. In addition to living and working in New Haven, YSM students, faculty, and staff volunteer their time and expertise through a variety of programs, including health education workshops, free clinics, and partnerships with local schools to foster interest in the health professions among young people. Our community outreach efforts often work hand-in-hand with research initiatives aimed at understanding the unique health challenges faced by the community and developing innovative solutions. We are also bringing care into the community, meeting patients where they are through InMotion, the first mobile pharmacy and clinic, and the Community Healthcare Van.
