Since 2022, Mx. A Gould (they/them and he/him) has worked as a Program Coordinator with the Yale School of Medicine (YSM) Office of Curriculum (OoC). They support the Health Equity Thread (HET), a curriculum thread designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and respond to the challenge of assuring a diverse, equitable, and inclusive healthcare system for patients and communities. Mx. Gould also supports the OoC by providing administrative support for LCME Accreditation compliance.

Mx. Gould is working toward a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern Connecticut State University. After graduating, they plan on becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to work with LGBTQIA+ clients.

Prior to being a Program Coordinator, Mx. Gould worked in the YSM Psychiatry Department as a Research Assistant 1 and 2. Under Dr. Meenakshi Alreja, they supported the VA National Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) Series. The ECHO team offers three monthly webinar series for primary care and mental healthcare providers on a variety of topics including Veteran mental health, suicide prevention, substance use disorder, and LGBTQ+ mental health. While working in Dr. Zafra Cooper's lab, Mx. Gould worked on a project investigating the prevalence of eating disorders among new Veterans and associated risk factors. In the Belief, Learning, & Memory Lab, Mx. Gould supported a study using neuroimaging (functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS)), and electroencephalogram (EEG) to investigate how psychosis impacts prediction error and belief updating.

Prior to Yale, Mx. Gould graduated with a BA from Wells College, having majored in Psychology and minored in both Biology and Environmental Science. After graduation, he worked for the Uniformed Services University (USU) at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS). There, they gained experience working with multiple populations including Veterans, active duty service members, and military families.

Mx. Gould has worked with study participants who have Serious Mental Illnesses (SMI) including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complicated grief disorder, schizophrenia, and eating disorders. Their research interests include research ethics, disparities in research studies, LGBTQIA+ health, neurodivergence and autism in adults, health inequities, suicidality, suicide prevention, and mental illness treatments.
