Udayani Prabha Kumari Abeykoon Mudiyanselage

Dr Udayani Prabha Kumari Abeykoon Mudiyanselage has been a Visiting Research Scientist, at Yale School of Public Health since 2023. Before this appointment, she served as an Acting Consultant at Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka. She earned her medical degree from the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. She completed her internship at District General Hospital, Monaragala, Sri Lanka before she was appointed as a primary care physician. She went on to complete training in community medicine at the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, the University of Colombo, where she received her MSc and MD in Community Medicine. Dr Prabha completed Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs Course of the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute (BIDTI) in 2019 and Post - Graduate Diploma in Diplomacy and World Affairs at the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute in 2023.

She underwent training for Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Prevention and Control in Remote Island Regions by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2019. Since September 2020, she has served on the director board of the Governing Council of the Sri Lanka Institute of Local Governance and as an advisor to the State Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Affairs for the supervision of Provincial Councils and Rural Hospitals since 2020. Her primary academic interests include infectious disease epidemiology, diplomacy, and preventive medicine.
