Stroke Busters Curriculum Educates New Haven High School Students
The Stroke Busters curriculum created at YSM by a group including Ranisha Parker, RN, stroke nurse navigator; Kris Allen, RN, stroke nurse; and Rachel Forman, MD, assistant professor of neurology, has gained increasing attention. The program, which educates New Haven high school students about stroke, is given in conjunction with the Yale Pathways to Science program. Its leaders have hosted four programs thus far and shown significant improvement in knowledge among New Haven high school youth with retention out to eight months. Some of the students have even gone on to help teach the program.
