Baum Is Co-author of New AAP Policy Statement on Climate Change
Carl Baum, MD, MSc, professor of pediatrics (emergency medicine) and of emergency medicine, is a co-author of a new policy statement and accompanying technical report on climate change from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Baum is a member of the Executive Committee of the AAP's Council on Children and Disasters.
Fernandes Co-edits Special Issue on Addressing Opioid Crisis
Claudia-Santi F. Fernandes, EdD, assistant clinical professor in the Yale Child Study Center and of biomedical informatics & data science, was a co-editor of a special issue of the Prevention Science Journal titled, "Helping End Addiction Long-Term Prevention Cooperative: Overview and Strategies," which highlighted the efforts of 10 NIH/NIDA-funded research projects focused on addressing the opioid crisis among youth and young adults.
Kliman Article Is Named the Most Popular in 'Reproductive Sciences' for 2023
An article by Harvey Kliman, MD, PhD, research scientist in obstetrics, gynecology & reproductive sciences, titled "Placental Pathology Findings in Unexplained Pregnancy Losses," was selected as the most popular basic sciences article published by Reproductive Sciences in 2023.
Generalist Firm at YNHH Is Renamed for Laura Whitman, MD, 1964-2023
In November 2023, the Generalist Firm at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) was renamed the Laura Whitman Firm in memory of Laura Whitman, MD, who was assistant professor of medicine (general internal medicine). Whitman, a highly regarded clinician, mentor, and leader at Yale School of Medicine, died on January 13, 2023, after a long illness.
Zeidan Is Put in Charge of Division of Hematologic Malignancies
Amer Zeidan, MBBS, MHS, associate professor of internal medicine (hematology), has been appointed inaugural chief of the Division of Hematologic Malignancies at Yale Cancer Center. Zeidan is an accomplished clinician, clinical and translational investigator, mentor, and educator, and he is committed to building a world-class hematologic malignancy program at Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital.
