Blumberg Is Honored by the American College of Psychiatrists
Hilary Blumberg, MD, John and Hope Furth Professor of Psychiatric Neuroscience, professor of psychiatry and in the Child Study Center, and professor of radiology & biomedical imaging, has received the American College of Psychiatrists’ 2024 Mood Disorders Award. Blumberg is director of the Mood Disorders Research Program at Yale, which brings together a multi-disciplinary group of scientists to study bipolar disorder and other mood and related disorders across the lifespan.
Crabtree Earns Clerkship Coordinator Award from APGO
Janice Crabtree, MS, manager of medical education for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, has been honored with a 2024 Donna Watcher Clerkship Coordinator Award given by the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO). The association established the award four years ago to recognize excellence and the outstanding contributions of clerkship leaders.
Jamidar Receives ASGE Master Endoscopist Award
Priya Jamidar, MBChB, professor of medicine (digestive diseases), is the 2024 recipient of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Master Endoscopist Award. ASGE notes that Jamidar has dedicated much of his professional career to mastering endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. He has built Yale's advanced endoscopy program into one of the largest tertiary referral centers in the northeastern United States.
Nunez-Smith Publishes Essay on Countering Implicit Bias
Marcella Nunez-Smith, MD, MHS, associate dean for health equity research, C.N.H. Long Professor of Internal Medicine (General Medicine), and professor of epidemiology (chronic disease) and of public health (social & behavioral sciences), has published an essay in the American Academy of Arts & Sciences' new publication, Understanding Implicit Bias: Insights & Innovations. The essay, "The Case for Data Visibility," calls for actively countering the ongoing effects of bias and discrimination.
Radiology and Urology Teams Celebrate TULSA Milestone
The radiology and urology teams that offer the TULSA procedure (transurethral localized sonographic ablation) to patients with prostate cancer have celebrated the 50th use of the procedure, which Yale was the first institution to test in a clinical trial less than three years ago. Sutherland Receives an Excellence in Public Health Award
Ryan Sutherland, medical student, has earned the United States Public Health Service Physicians Professional Advisory Committee's Excellence in Public Health Award. The award was established to recognize medical students’ contribution to public health.
