The Yale Biomedical Informatics and Computing Office (YBIC) announced today that members of the Yale community can now access the Merative™ MarketScan® Research Databases.
MarketScan contains individual-level, de-identified healthcare claims information from employers, health plans, hospitals, and Medicare and Medicaid programs. Since its creation in the early 1990s, the MarketScan Databases have grown into one of the largest collections of de-identified patient-level data in the United States, enabling evidence generation from real-world data. The Yale copy of MarketScan includes healthcare claims data from 2016-2022, covering person-specific clinical utilization, expenditures, and enrollment across inpatient, outpatient, prescription drug, and carve-out services, totaling nearly 10 billion records from 70 million patients.
With support from the Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Medical Library, the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI), and Yale Health Sciences IT, the YBIC team will assist individual researchers in retrieving data and facilitating analysis while adhering to all compliance requirements for using MarketScan data at Yale.
