YSM Publications

The Yale School of Medicine Office of Communications is focused on sharing news and stories about Yale School of Medicine innovations in science and medicine in the areas of education, research and clinical practice. We publish inspirational stories, explorations of science and society, health articles and videos via websites, print magazines and newsletters. Our audiences include the general public, patients and physicians, as well as our alumni, faculty members, students, and staff.

Yale Medicine Magazine, and Facts & Figures appear online and in print form. YSM Events and YSM News & Recognition assemble school-wide events and announcements and are sent out weekly to all of YSM.

Our team collaborates with Yale’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications, which works directly with news media and also publishes articles about Yale School of Medicine research and other institutional news. For public relations matters, please contact OPAC: 203.432.1345. We also coordinate with communications staff in departments across the School of Medicine, as well as the School of Public Health, the School of Nursing, and Yale New Haven Health.

Content created by our team for Yale Medicine, the School of Medicine’s clinical practice, appears online at yalemedicine.org.

YSM has many social media channels as well.

Yale Medicine Magazine

Yale Medicine was established in the 1950s as the medical school's alumni bulletin. It adopted a magazine format in the 1960s and evolved into a school-wide magazine. Full color, which had occasionally graced the cover, was introduced to the interior pages with the Winter/Spring 1998 issue and is now used throughout the magazine. In 2014 we adopted a new look and new approach with a redesign and themed issues that explore topics in medicine, biomedical science, and medical education in depth.

Yale Medicine has broadened its readership to include the greater medical school and Yale University community, national and international media, individual benefactors and prospective donors, corporate and foundation officers, as well as the larger medical, educational and scientific community.

The thrice-yearly alumni magazine, Yale Medicine Magazine, covers discoveries in biomedicine, clinical advances, new ways of training tomorrow’s doctors, and the evolution of medicine and health care.

Facts & Figures

Facts and Figures is compiled and published annually to provide an overview of key facts about the School of Medicine. It contains information on our history, educational and research programs, clinical care, and more.
