Tracking disease at the world’s largest gathering

Yale Emergency Medicine’s Dr. Pooja Agrawal was part of a team tracking the spread of disease in the huge temporary city created for the Kumbh Mela, an Indian festival that celebrates the Hindu faith. The festival is considered the largest gathering in the world, with upwards of 80 million people attending on certain days. To accommodate the crowds, tented cities pop up complete with housing, electricity, and field hospitals. Click on the related documents to read more.
