Faculty Highlight: Dr. Chris Moore selected for Plenary Session at SAEM Annual Meeting

February 24, 2013

“Accuracy of an Ultra-Low Dose CT Protocol for ED Patients with Suspected Kidney Stone,” authored by the DEM’s Dr. Chris Moore, has been selected for the Plenary Session at the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) 2013 Annual Meeting. Moore’s abstract was selected from over 1,215 abstracts submitted to SAEM and represents a pillar of his ongoing research program at Yale.

Moore’s interest in imaging doesn’t stop at kidney stones. A hotbed of opportunity, ultrasound has been described as “the stethoscope of the future,” and Dr. Moore is dedicated to unleashing its potential. This includes ongoing projects aimed at expanding the utility of bedside ultrasound in the evaluation of congestive heart failure, sepsis, and pulmonary embolism as well as working on a web-based training and competency assessment tool.

Dr. Moore currently directs the Department of Emergency Medicine’s ultrasound fellowship in addition to his academic and clinical duties. In 2009, he was awarded the SAEM "Ultrasound Achievement Award"; a national award for "Exceptional Academic Accomplishments and Leadership in Emergency Ultrasound”. He will be presenting his abstract on May 16th in Atlanta, GA.
