Biography
Michael Recht, MD, PhD, MBA cares for children, adolescents, and young adults affected by bleeding and clotting disorders as a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and member of the Hemophilia Treatment Center and Section of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Yale University School of Medicine.
As Chief Medical and Scientific Officer for the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF), Dr. Recht, works at the strategic and policy level to inform the scientific direction of NHF. He works across the organization to define, develop, and implement NHF’s science and research strategy.
Dr. Recht received his medical degree as well as his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed his residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at Yale New Haven Hospital/Yale University School of Medicine. He was the founding director of the Hemophilia Center at Phoenix Children's Hospital. From 2007 until 2020, Dr. Recht was the director of the Hemophilia Center at Oregon Health & Science University as well as the Mountain States Hemophilia Network. Dr. Recht has actively participated in over 110 clinical trials testing new treatments for people with inherited blood disorders, including leading research involving gene therapy for hemophilia.
