Biography

Nora H. Abdullah graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Southern Methodist University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in History, Chemistry, and Arabic. She received her medical degree with distinction as a Global Health Scholar from University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX. During her medical school tenure, she went on many global health trips and established a global health site in Amman, Jordan. She completed her general psychiatry training at UT Southwestern where she was a part of the Global and Cultural Psychiatry concentration. As a resident, Nora established a site serving primarily Syrian refugees and displaced people with both mental health education and psychiatric care. Most recently, she volunteered with MedGlobal during the devastating earthquake where she traveled to Turkey and Syria to provide psychiatric training. Outside of medicine, Nora enjoys working on her cookbook, swimming, and traveling to different countries. She is an active volunteer in her community and enjoys working on new projects to increase awareness while aiming to provide culturally informed psychiatric care.
