Biography
Caroline Boaz, MSN, ACNS (BC), ACHPN, is an advanced practice registered nurse with the Ambulatory Palliative Care team, caring for patients at a number of Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center locations across Connecticut. Caroline joined the Yale Palliative Care team in 2021, bringing with her a wealth of experience in hospice and palliative care as a clinician, administrator, and educator. She received her undergraduate nursing degree from the Northern University of Illinois and subsequently trained as both a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist at Alverno College in Wisconsin. Caroline went on to helm a number of hospice and palliative care programs in Wisconsin, Southern California, and Connecticut. She served as associate director of the Shiley Institute for Palliative Care at California State University, where she developed the Advanced Practice Certificate in Palliative Care, one of a handful of post-master's certificate programs in the U.S. for nurse practitioners wishing to advance their training in palliative care and hospice. She was honored as a nurse leader during her tenure at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, where she was recognized for Nursing Excellence in New Knowledge, Innovation, and Improvements. Caroline has published on both palliative and end-of-life care, and she is an instructor for the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium. In addition to her clinical practice, Caroline is a certified life coach and Reiki master. She maintains specialty certification as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse.
